    – The persistence of child labor is one of the biggest obstacles to human rights globally. Child labor, as defined by the International Labor Organization (ILO), is “work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development.” 10 Child Labor Facts.[1] – History of Child Labor. In 2012, 168 million children – from 5-years-old to 17 – were involved in child labor.[3]
