How did Smogon start?
Though officially established December 18th, 2004 by the site owner, chaos, the history of our organization stretches back many years. Some members have been part of the online competitive Pokémon scene since 1999, originating from websites such as GameFAQs, Azure Heights, RPGamer, Pojo, and The PokeMasters.
Why is Darmanitan banned?
Outside of the high-usage rate, this ban was facilitated by two big factors: how hard Galarian Darmanitan can hit and a lack of counters in the Sword and Shield OU meta. Or in simpler terms, there is no solid check for Galarian Darmanitan that has been workshopped yet.
Why is the VGC doubles?
Because of time constraints involved with hosting large-scale tournaments in a single day, doubles was chosen for the faster paced metagame and the inability to stall due to the number of attacks being thrown around each turn.
