What type of steel is EN9?
medium carbon steel
EN9, also known as 070m55, available in diameters, flats, squares and plates with a carbon content 0.50/0.60 this is a medium carbon steel which can develop a tensile strength of 700N/mm 45tsi. In the normalised condition EN9 can be used for gears, sprockets and cams.
Is standard for EN9 material?
EN9 Carbon steel is a medium carbon steel with 0.5-0.6% C as per BS 970 standard. It is also known as 070M55 with tensile strength between 500-800Mpa. When hardened and tempered, it develops a tensile strength in the range 700-1000 N/mm depending on ruling section. …

How do you weld EN9?
Heat to 620 – 650°C at a maximum heating rate of 100°C/hr or 6000/thickness (mm)°C/hr, whichever is the smaller. Temper for 2 hours….Alternative procedure:
- Boost the preheat to 250°C and hold for 4 hours minimum.
- Cool to room temperature at a maximum rate of 50°C/hr.
- Temper when convenient.
What is the difference between EN9 and En19?
En9 is a steel grade for mechanical and allied engineering purposes specifications for wrought steel. En19 is a high quality alloy steel with tensile strength combining good ductility and shock resistance. It is the material that lends itself well to any application where strength is the primary consideration.
What is the hardness of En19?
EN19 Steel is a high quality Quenched and Tempered Alloy Structural steel, It belong to the high quality medium carbon, Oil Quenched & Tempered Hardenss is 28-34 HRC….EN19 Steel | 4140 | 1.7225 | SCM440 | 42CrMo4.

Is standard for EN19?
EN19 Steel is one steel grade in BS 970-1955 standard, which is specification for wrought steels for mechanical and allied engineering purpose. The EN19 Steel equivalent grades are AISI 4140, DIN 1.7225/42crmo4. AISI 4140 steel is an engineering alloy steel containing chromium and molybdenum.
What is EN9 carbon steel?
EN9 is a medium carbon steel grade commonly supplied in the as rolled condition. It can be flame or induction hardened to produce a high surface hardness with excellent wear resistance for a carbon steel grade.
What is EN9 steel / s55c steel?
EN9 Steel / S55C Steel Grade En9 steel is a medium carbon steel grade having carbon content between 0.5 to 0.6 commonly supplied in the As Rolled condition. It is available in rounds, flats, hexagons and other forms. It is used in a number of engineering applications such as gears, sprockets and cams.
What are the types of EN9 bars?
Grades such as S55C, S53C are also types of En9 grade. It can be flame or induction hardened to produce a high surface hardness with excellent wear resistance for a carbon steel grade. En9 Bars are used for machine parts where wear resistance property is more important than toughness.
What are the mechanical properties of EN9 steel UTS?
