What transmission fits a 351 Windsor?
The B&M C6 PreRunner/Trail automatic transmission is for use in RWD Ford applications with a 13 1/2-inch tailshaft and 5 1/8-inch separation of top bellhousing bolts. This transmission will work on 289, 302, 351 Cleveland and 351 Windsor engines (does not fit 351M engine.)

Registered. yes. the 351C uses the same bellhousings as the small blocks. However, one thing to remember is if you build up the engine much or plan on racing the stock C4 is a weaker transmission than a C6.

The C4 transmission was primarily used in cars. The C6 transmission could handle more power. Due to the ability to handle more power, the C6 transmission was used in many Ford trucks with bigger engines, and in larger cars that were manufactured with bigger engines.
Are 302 and 351W blocks the same?
On a 302 (or smaller c.i.d.) blocks, the distributor mount is almost flush with the top of the block (where the intake sits). A 351W block is taller. So, the distributor mount is below the block surface where the intake sits. There is also more space between the water passages and the cylinder heads.

How much power can a T5 handle?
My T5 has lasted very reliably behind about 480 ftlb flywheel torque (412 at wheels) with much full throttle use at the strip. Having said that though some people seem to be very ‘hard’ on transmissions and can spit a T5 all over the ground behind a stock 302. If you think you’re in that catagory then don’t use the T5.
How much horsepower can a C4 transmission handle?
A properly built stock C4 can handle 400-450 hp, depending on torque curve, vehicle weight and use. Shock loading is what kills it, IME.
What transmission should I put behind A 351W?
I like to run AOD’s or 4R70W’s behind my 351W’s, I’m addicted to having overdrive. Both C4’s and C6’s are good solid transmissions. But considering how you can build a little lightweight C4 to handle more power than your 351W is likely to make I don’t see any reason to use a big HEAVY C6 unless you are determined to run a bone stock automatic.
Will a T5 bellhousing fit A 351W?
The T5 bellhousing fits the 157 tooth flywheel. However, the 351w is 28oz balance, not 50oz like 1982 and later 302’s. (or 5.0’s) so, you must have your flywheel balanced to 28oz. Preferably matched to your rotating assembly.
What is the torque on a T-5?
The stock t-5 has a first gear of 3.35 but is of the lower rated torque of 265 (unless it’s a newer model or the heavy duty trans). The heavy duty T5 is rated at 330 but it’s first gear is 2.95 so you’re back where you were with the Top Loader and the Top Loader is way stronger. having a fifth gear is great for the highway though.
Is the C4 or C6 transmission better for 351W?
Seems like the internet is 2 sided with the c4 or c6. Just wondering what people are running here on their 351w and there opinions on the matter. also if i should foresee any possible issues during a swap. p.s 69 fastback, stock 351w. C-4 if built properly will be the better transmission for performance.
