What should you not wear to a Renaissance fair?
Most men choose to wear full-length breeches or half-length breeches with socks tucked into simple leather boots. For summer Ren Faires, tights would be uncomfortably warm anyway. DON’T dress as a pirate!, Trekkie, mermaid, elf, unless its’ that kind of Renaissance Faire.
What do you wear to a Renaissance fair?
Wear a skirt or dress that reaches the floor or your ankles for a typical Renaissance look. Wear a gown or dress over your chemise and corset, or a separate skirt to complement your corset or bodice. Avoid any ruffles, adornments, or patterns on skirts.
Can I wear normal clothes to a Renaissance Festival?
Feel free to ease in to a Renaissance fair by dressing in your normal clothes. It’s totally not necessary to dress up at all. Also know that you can if you want to, and that you don’t have to go all out or be period-accurate.
Can you wear a kilt to a Ren Faire?
During the Renaissance, men typically wore simple trousers in natural fabrics or long hose paired with a smock or doublet. Of course, if you’re going for a Celtic look, a kilt is always a good option! (And don’t forget all the accessories that come with it: flashes, hose, etc.)
Do people dress up at the Renaissance Fair?
You do not need to dress up in garb (costume), but it’s more fun if you do. Think of the Knights of the Round Table, Henry the Eighth, Queen Elizabeth the First of England, etc.
Were there pirates during the Renaissance?
Piracy has occurred through the ages ever since the first ships were invented. A common source of Pirates were the many crews of naval vessels that were disbanded at the end of the European wars during the Renaissance and immediately after the Renaissance. Another common source of Pirates were the privateers.
Can you bring real swords to the Renaissance Festival?
Swords, Knives, Dirks and Daggers must be completely sheathed and peace-tied. Axes, Claymores, Maces, spears, Antique Firearms, Pikes and Halberds are NOT allowed on the Festival site. No drawing of any weapon at any time. Must be 18 years or older to carry a weapon.
