They were the pterosaurs which included Plesiosaurus, Pteranodon, Pterodactylus, Dimorphodon, Rhamphorhynchus, Quetzalcoatlus, and many others. (pronounced TER-o-SAWRS) Pterosaurs (meaning “winged lizard”) were flying, prehistoric reptiles. They were not dinosaurs, but were closely related to them.
