Michael Ritchie also directed “The Candidate” the same year, a film I enjoyed but wished it dug a bit deeper in its subject, but for “Prime Cut”, packed-up in less than ninety minutes, it was enough. So I would cheerfully compare “Prime Cut” to its defining element: meat.
