What is link up operation?
LINKUP OPERATIONS. Linkup is an operation that entails the meeting of friendly ground forces (or their leaders or designated representatives). The platoon conducts linkup activities independently or as part of a larger force. Within a larger unit, the reconnaissance platoon may lead the linkup force.
Who do you take on a leader’s recon?
The purpose of the leader’ reconnaissance (LR) is for you to conduct the final planning components of the mission while being physically present at the site. You should take one team leader and a security element, typically two squad members, with you. The rest of the squad will remain at the ORP until you return.

What is a hasty ambush?
A hasty ambush is an Immediate Action where the patrol makes visual contact with an enemy force and has time to establish an ambush without being detected. A hasty ambush is not planned but is well rehearsed and is accomplished through the use of hand and arm signals given from the Patrol Leader.
