What is inside of a star?

Stars are mainly made of hydrogen and helium gas. In the centre of a star, the temperature and pressure are so high that four protons can fuse to form helium, in a series of steps. This process releases huge amounts of energy and makes the stars shine brightly.

How a star is created?

A star is born when atoms of light elements are squeezed under enough pressure for their nuclei to undergo fusion. And once the fusion reactions begin, they exert an outward pressure. As long as the inward force of gravity and the outward force generated by the fusion reactions are equal, the star remains stable.

Are stars solid?

It is, as all stars are, a hot ball of gas made up mostly of Hydrogen. The Sun is so hot that most of the gas is actually plasma, the fourth state of matter. The first state is a solid and it is the coldest state of matter. As we heat up liquid, the liquid turns to gas.

Are stars made out of rocks?

Instead of solids (like rock and soil) and liquids (like water), the Sun is made up mostly of gases and plasma. In fact, the Sun is comprised almost entirely of two extremely hot gases: hydrogen and helium. Stars also usually have trace amounts of heavier elements, such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and iron.

Stars shine because they are extremely hot (which is why fire gives off light — because it is hot). The source of their energy is nuclear reactions going on deep inside the stars. In most stars, like our sun, hydrogen is being converted into helium, a process which gives off energy that heats the star.

Can a star turn into a planet?
