Overview: Dryad is a general-purpose data repository. It’s goal is to make data underlying scientific publictions discoverable, freely reusable, and citable. Dryad partners with scientific journals to include data from publications. Dryad required sign up and log-in to contribute data.
Where is Dryad based?
The Metadata Research Center now at the College of Computing and Informatics, Drexel University, formerly served as Dryad’s central curation hub, with primary curation activity now taking place via the non-profit in North Carolina.
Is Dryad data repository free?
How much does it cost? Dryad is a nonprofit organization that provides long-term access to its contents at no cost to users. We are able to provide free access to data due to financial support from members and data submitters.

Dryad is an open source, community driven project that takes a unique approach to data publication and digital preservation. Dryad focuses on search, presentation, and discovery and delegates the responsibility for the data preservation function to the underlying repository with which it is integrated.
How are dryads made?
How the dryads came into existence is quite simple. At their birth trees sprung up from the earth, and they were closely tied to the trees. While the trees lived, so did the nymphs. When the tree dies, the Dryad dies alongside the tree as well.

Can dryads leave their trees?
Dryads are specifically the nymphs of oak trees. Dryads are figures in Greek mythology often described as “tied to their homes (trees),” although some dryads are able to leave their post. Many say they are bound to their trees. If the tree dies, they die, but some are said to haunt those who cause their demise.
What powers do Dryads have?
Powers. Shapeshifting – Dryads could shift between the form of a human or tree at will. Longevity – Dryads live exceptionally long lives. Divine Protection – Dryads are protected by the gods who will punish any mortals who bring harm to their trees without paying respects to the dryad first.
