The AEF Indicator is a letter and number combination assigned to military members aligning them with an AEF cycle, which is used to identify when Airmen deploy.
What is a DAV code?
DAV = Deployment Availability Codes. A personnelist/UDM question. DAV codes are what show you are cleared to deploy or if you have a condition or career issue that marks you as unable to deploy. For example: Pregnancy, retainability, non-worldwide qualified, etc.
What are unit type codes?
A Joint Chiefs of Staff developed and assigned code, consisting of five characters that uniquely identify a “typeunit.” Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms.

What is TDY Air Force?
Temporary Duty orders are known as TDY orders in the Air Force and the United States Army. The United States Marine Corps also uses TDY, but includes something called Long-Term TDY for orders authorizing duty at another location for longer than 30 days.
Where do I find my AEF indicator?
Upon login to vMPF, Airmen can view the initial page that shows a box containing their AEF deployment status. This includes their AEF indicator, rotation period and the date their commander assigned them to a specific AEF.
