What causes all types of precipitation?
When particles fall from clouds and reach the surface as precipitation, they do so primarily as rain, snow, freezing rain or sleet. The main difference between these different types of precipitation is the temperature variations between the cloud base and the ground.
What causes precipitation changes?
As temperatures rise and the air becomes warmer, more moisture evaporates from land and water into the atmosphere. More moisture in the air generally means we can expect more rain and snow (called precipitation) and more heavy downpours.

It comes in many forms, like rain, sleet, and snow. Along with evaporation and condensation, precipitation is one of the three major parts of the global water cycle. Precipitation forms in the clouds when water vapor condenses into bigger and bigger droplets of water. When the drops are heavy enough, they fall to the Earth.
What is the relationship between water vapor and precipitation?
Water vapor collects with other materials, such as dust, in clouds. Precipitation condenses, or forms, around these tiny pieces of material, called cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). Clouds eventually get too full of water vapor, and the precipitation turns into a liquid (rain) or a solid (snow).
What are the causes of pre-cipitation?
Precipitation is caused by the condensation of water vapours in the air mass. The ascending air mass having a sufficient amount of water vapours turns saturated due to adiabatic cooling. Condensation of water vapours then leads to the formation of clouds.
What happens to precipitation after it falls?
Precipitation falls to the ground as snow and rain. It eventually evaporates and rises back into the atmosphere as a gas. In clouds, it turns back into liquid or solid water, and it falls to Earth again. People rely on precipitation for fresh water to drink, bathe, and irrigate crops for food.
