I’m not sure about the hei units, but the stock jeep motorcraft has an adjustable vacumn advance by inserting an 1/8 allen wrench in the advance unit where the hose goes over.
How do you remove the timing chain cover from a car?

Note that the bolts are different lengths so have a system in place to remember which bolt goes where when you put the cover back on.
