Has the future already been written?
The future, though it remains unknown to you, seems to be written already. Einstein himself described it thus: “People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”
Can past present and future exist at the same time?
Unlike a “flowing river”, time does not behave as we perceive it. Past, present and future they exist simultaneously, but in different dimensions. This thought has a basis in the theory of unified space and time, proposed by Albert Einstein in 1915.
Is time real or an illusion?
According to theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli, time is an illusion: our naive perception of its flow doesn’t correspond to physical reality. Indeed, as Rovelli argues in The Order of Time, much more is illusory, including Isaac Newton’s picture of a universally ticking clock.
Can we change the future?
We can’t change the past, and our future only exists in potential. Our ability to impact our lives and the lives of others is in the present moment, right now. Jobs, money, and all the “things” we acquire in life are renewable, they can be replaced.
What is happening has already happened?
When Mahavira used to say that whatever is happening has already happened, he was saying that whatever is happening is the present, whatever may be is the future. The bud which is coming into blossom somewhere has already blossomed, so it will blossom, it will become a flower.
How is time created?
According to the general theory of relativity, space, or the universe, emerged in the Big Bang some 13.7 billion years ago. “In the theory of relativity, the concept of time begins with the Big Bang the same way as parallels of latitude begin at the North Pole.
How can time not exist?
The problem, in brief, is that time may not exist at the most fundamental level of physical reality. As Rovelli explains it, in quantum mechanics all particles of matter and energy can also be described as waves. And waves have an unusual property: An infinite number of them can exist in the same location.
Is there a difference between the past and future?
Our intuition tells us that the future can be changed, but Einstein’s theory of relativity suggests that there is no real difference between the future and the past. The future, present and past may actually not be as different as we think, says science writer and astrophysicist Adam Becker.

Is the future just a collection of possibilities?
While Einstein would suggest the future is just as real as the past, Ellis posits that the future remains a collection of possibilities until it merges into the present. (Credits: Photo illustration by Dan Bishop/Discover; Historical Picture Archive/CORBIS; Alan Copson/JAI/Corbis)
Is the end of the world inevitable?
According to physics, the end of the world is inevitable. Heat death, the big crunch, the big rip, vacuum decay or ‘bounce’ are all ways it could occur. Physicist Katie Mack explains how likely each of these scenarios are.
