What is the importance of following Jesus?
He is our Creator. He is the Light of the World. He is our Savior from sin and death. This is the most important knowledge on earth, and you can know this for yourself.
Are disciples and believers the same?
To remain as a believer in Christ, one doesn’t have to do all those three things. But, to be a Disciple of Christ, one has to abide by the conditions of Jesus. Therefore, the believer in Christ and the Disciple of Christ are not the same. Faith in Christ is the basis for both believers and Disciples of Christ.
What are the benefits of being connected to God?
The three (3) Essentials of Sustaining Connection with God are:
- Our connection to God makes us clean, grow and bear good and much spiritual fruits.
- Our connection to God’s words leads to life.
- Our connection to God’s plans lead us to clear vision of eternal inheritance.
What are followers of Jesus called?
In Christianity, disciple primarily refers to a dedicated follower of Jesus. This term is found in the New Testament only in the Gospels and Acts. In the ancient world, a disciple is a follower or adherent of a teacher. It is not the same as being a student in the modern sense.
How can you be a good follower of Jesus in the community?
In Mark 8, Jesus gives a simple three-step plan to become a true follower….
- Deny self. This is the first and most challenging step of all.
- Take up your cross. In life, challenges arise and God may allow those challenges to continue so that I can learn to take them up and come to him with them.
- Follow me.
What does Jesus expect from his followers?
Jesus expected the twelve as disciples to face suffering, rejection, and death and suffer like Jesus did. If you become a disciple you will be rewarded the Kingdom of heaven. To be rewarded like Jesus did when he rose from the dead.
What is the difference between merely following Jesus teaching and actually being Jesus disciple?
The disciple desired to learn not only the teaching of the rabbi, but to imitate the practical details of their life. A disciple did not merely attend lectures or read books, they were required to interact with and imitate a real living person.
