Veterans Serving From 12-7-41 May Become Eligible for The Combat Action Badge. Currently, only those who have served in such a situation after September 18, 2001 may be awarded the Combat Action Badge.
Who gets a Combat Infantry Badge?
A Soldier can qualify for the CIB if they are an Infantry/Special Forces Soldier assigned to an Infantry/Special Forces unit while the unit is engaged in active ground combat, to close with and destroy the enemy with direct fires. Only one Combat Action Ribbon can be awarded to a service member per theater of war.
