Where is the AC low pressure port?

The low side service port is usually located between the AC compressor and evaporator. The low side service port will have a black or blue plastic cap that needs to be removed.

Which AC line is the low side?

The low side, or suction line, will be the line connected to the compressor from the top or higher position. It will be cold to the touch and may be wrapped with insulation. This is where freon enters the compressor as a gas.

How do I add Freon to my car?

To fill the system with refrigerant:

  1. Squeeze the trigger for 5-10 seconds, slowly tipping and shaking the can.
  2. Wait 30 seconds for the pressure to equalize.
  3. Read the pressure displayed on the gauge again.
  4. When the pressure is correct, stop filing the system and wait a few minutes.

Where is the low side service port?

The low side service valve is located in the line that runs from the compressor through the evaporator (firewall) and up to the condensor on the low pressure (suction) side of the system.

How to Recharge the AC in a Chevy Truck

  1. Attach the hoses from the gauge set to the service ports on the Chevy truck.
  2. Attach the vacuum pump to the center hose of the AC gauge set.
  3. Close the valves on the gauge set and turn off the pump.
  4. Disconnect the vacuum pump from the gauge hose and install a can tap on the hose.

Do you put Freon in the high or low side?

The freon is added on the LOW PRESSURE SIDE ONLY. The hose tool you bought is made so you can only hook to the low side as the high side and low side fittings are different sizes and shapes for SAFETY’S SAKE.

What port do I add Freon to?

The low-side port, like the name suggests, is lower on the pipes towards the front of the engine. While the low-side port is intended for recharging Freon, the high-side port is used for maintaining an air conditioner’s internal pressure.

Where is the suction line located?

The suction line is to return gas to the compressor. It is between the evaporator and compressor on a standard cooling system and between the reversing valve and the compressor on a heat pump.
