What happens if you fail an APFT?

Soldiers who have failed an APFT are often put into a “remedial program” first, which includes additional physical training. An APFT failure also results in the soldier being “flagged” which make them ineligible for promotion and attendance to military training and/or schools.

What is a Chapter 14 discharge in the Army?

GENERAL: This is a discharge under honorable conditions, Soldier whose record and performance is satisfactory. This is usually given to someone who had non- judicial punishments (Article 15s), but not for serious infractions. When this type of discharge is given, the commander must state the specific basis for it.

What is Chapter 5 17 for discharge in the Army?

If you are discharged from the Army under Chapter 5-17, it means you had a physical or mental condition that prevented you from fulfilling your military duties. Soldiers discharged on the grounds of Chapter 5-17 usually receive an honorable discharge.

Who gets honorable discharge?

1 – Honorable discharge. This is the highest discharge a military member can receive. It indicates the service member performed duties well, faithfully executed the mission, and was an asset to the branch of the military where the member served.

Is Chapter 13 an honorable discharge?

GENERAL: This is a discharge under honorable conditions, soldier whose record and performance is satisfactory. This discharge carries considerable stigma and deprives the soldier of substantially all veteran’s benefits accrued during the enlistment period. This type of discharge is usually not given under Chapter 13.

Do you get flagged for failing APFT?

No adverse administrative actions will be taken against a Soldier for failing the ACFT. Personnel records and evaluations will not contain an ACFT score. The ACFT will not be used administratively for order of merit lists or considered for promotion boards.

Can you be flagged for failing a diagnostic APFT?

Your failure to meet minimum Army standards is an overall indication of your less than acceptable fitness level/standards. Since this was a diagnostic APFT, you will not be flagged or considered for a bar to reenlistment. This means you are fully eligible for favorable actions like awards and promotions.

Is Chapter 9 honorable discharge?

CHARACTERIZATION OF SERVICE: Soldiers separated under Chapter 9 may receive either an honorable discharge or a general under honorable conditions discharge. This is usually appropriate for soldiers who have received nonjudicial punishment (Article 15s) for minor offenses. 5.

Is Chapter 18 an honorable discharge?

Soldiers separated under Chapter 18 must receive an honorable discharge. (Soldiers with less than 180 days active duty may receive an entry level status discharge, which is uncharacterized.)

What is a Chapter 11 discharge from the army?

Chapter 11 – Entry Level Performance and Conduct: The grounds for this type of separation is unsatisfactory performance or minor disciplinary infractions. This type of discharge is only applicable within your first 180 days of active duty service.
